Dhal chicken

  • 2 carrots (diagonal cutting)
  • 2 potatoes (cut in big pieces)
  • 1 red onion (fined chopping)
  • 2 large tomatoes (cut in big pieces)
  • 2 cups dhal (about 300 gram, soaked overnight)
  • 1/2 whole chicken (cut in pieces)
  • 2 tablespoon turmeric powder
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 tsp sea salt

Steps

  1. Heat some oil and pan fried red onion till fragrance.
  2. Pour in chicken and pan fried for a while.
  3. Add in all remaining ingredients, seasoning and enough water to cover all ingredients.
  4. Cook with medium heat for 15-20 mins then reduce to low heat and simmer for another 40-45 mins.
  5. Do not open the cover lid and let it simmer for another 1-1.5 hours after off fire.
