Steamed banana cupcakes


  • 2 eggs
  • 90g sugar (I put 80g)
  • 2 ripe bananas, abt 200g (I used 2.5 bananas)
  • 150g self raising flour (I used all purpose)
  • 1 tsp baking powder (I used 2 tsp)
  • 1 tbsp cooking oil (I used VCO)


  1. Sift flour & baking powder. Set aside.
  2. Whisk eggs & sugar till ribbon stage (white & fluffy)
  3. Add in bananas and combine
  4. Gently fold in flour, followed by oil.
  5. Spoon into muffin cups.
  6. Steam on high heat for 15mins.

    Hi, may i know this is suitable for which age group as my lo is 10 months old and im also running out of ideas for her breakfast. Is the amt of sugar mentioned suitable for her?

      Hi dear, my boy is ard 14mths old.. based on feedback fm another mummy she used pisang emas which is sweet so she reduce sugar to 45g and tastes gd too :)

      I supposed if you used self raising flour you can reduce or omit the baking powder.. The original recipe did call for baking powder though.. As i used all purpose, I put baking powder so that the cakes will rise.. Do try it out and let me know :)

      Hi dear,

      Texture should be fluffy. Did you whisk the eggs and sugar till ribbon stage? You will aso need to combine the ingredients gently after.
      How long did you steam for?water must b boiling then place into steam on high
