steamed cupcakes

Ingredients

  • 250g self raising flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 egg (slightly beaten)
  • 50ml corn oil
  • 50g sugar
  • 200ml water (can replace with pandan juice, milk or any other flavours)

Steps

  1. Sift flour & baking powder. Set aside.
  2. Whisk water and sugar til sugar dissolved.
  3. Add in egg and corn oil. Mix well.
  4. Add in flour and combine till batter is smooth.
  5. Pour into cupcake liners, filling up to 90% of the liner.
  6. Steam for 20 mins.

Extra notes

*pls make sure to preheat the steamer before steaming the cupcakes.
*I made mocha flavoured cupcakes by adding 3 tsp cocoa powder n 1 tsp instant coffee mix to 200ml water.

      Yes you may change sugar to brown sugar.. i’m using organic sugar n the colour of the cupcakes are slightly on the pale brown side.. if use brown sugar then it’ll be darker..

      so sorry for the late reply.. i use normal size C eggs.. i personally think the egg size is not a matter in this recipe ya.. happy trying! :D

      By right you can, but olive oil has a stronger taste so when it’s done the taste might be a little different.. :)

    very interested in these steamed cupcakes. but what time of steamer do you use? an actual steamer machine like the ones you use to steam veg or a bamboo steamer?
